kgornek Posted August 13, 2003 Posted August 13, 2003 Just curious, Can you purchase a leather third row seat for Tahoes if it wasn't optioned for one? Or do need to have those brackets in the floor to install one? <scratches head>
seadoons Posted August 13, 2003 Posted August 13, 2003 I think you can get one istalled...whenever I looked a Tahoes, I found one that I liked without the third row seat, and the salesman said it could be added for about $1000 (I guess they had to install brackets, seatbelts, etc. I would venture to guess that there is already something underneath the carpet, and maybe even the brackets are already there. Also, you must have a liftgate in order to have a third row seat. If you have the barn doors, you can't get it. I don't know why though. Good luck!
kgornek Posted August 13, 2003 Author Posted August 13, 2003 Well I indeed have the barn doors. So I guess that option is out. Don't think I would pay $1000 bucks anyway. But hey, thanks for the info!
Bish Posted August 13, 2003 Posted August 13, 2003 I read a post where someone ordered the floor brackets and they bolted right in. I believe you can do this with either the liftgate or the barn doors. you just can't order the vehicle with barn doors and third rows seats for some reason. Beware, the thrid row is NOT leather. I ordered mine with leather and the front 2 rows have leather "seating areas" but the rear is fake leather all around.
seadoons Posted August 13, 2003 Posted August 13, 2003 Yeah...all I know is you can't buy one new with barn doors and the third row seat. Who knows what that is though...the third row seat is vinyl. Got to love that!
01Burb Posted August 13, 2003 Posted August 13, 2003 I've seen third row seats on Ebay for $400-$500 in leather. There may be an after market place that makes them. Currently there are a few for $600. The third seat need three mounting points which are flush with the floor. Maybe in 'no 3rd seat' vehicles there is a plate there covering the mounting points??
als1984z28 Posted August 13, 2003 Posted August 13, 2003 Check out PerformanceProducts.com I found this Third row seat for your 2001 Tahoe. $959.99 for Leather, I would go Ebay!

You can't get the barn doors and third row seats will the Tahoes, because there isn't enough room for the doors to clear the seats in the back.
MCourson Posted August 14, 2003 Posted August 14, 2003 I am sure that the only thing needed to be installed would be the floor brakets. Ours has the 3rd seat in cloth like the rest of the seats. The seat belts and integrated into the seat like the front seats are.
kgornek Posted August 14, 2003 Author Posted August 14, 2003 Interesting... the seat at PerformanceProducts.com mounts facing the rear of the truck. I guess that is where I would put the ugly passengers?
