I hate work

Well It is a georgeous Sunday afternoon and I am sitting all alone in my office because my boss cornered me into working. He said that The Plans for the electrical substation will be ready for him to bring to Long Island Rail Road on Monday morning Right? And of course since this is my bosses boss who is a corperate president I said oh Yea no problem. And now I am stuck here busting my hump to get it done. Why does this have to happen on a weekend when I have way to much planned in the beginngin. I had a Wedding Yesterday and today there is a family BBQ. I just hope I get home in time to eat some BBQ before it is all devoured. Well I am done ranting and I should get to work or I will never get out of here. I hope all of you have a better Sunday than I am.

Hell, I went into work voluntarily at 12 am this morning and worked 2.5 hours overtime. Just sat there with my boss and watched water flow by in the wash from a flood and chatted about crap. Wasn't too bad, was a beautiful night, but very weird working on the weekend, matter for less at 12 in the freakin' morning.

Yea, I hate working on the weekends. I usually go in on Saturday from 6 till noon just to get a few hours of overtime, but it still sucks.

My boss and I were taking a 54 chevy to the muffler shop one day and by the time we got back it was an hour past my time to go. So the boss says, "hey look you got a little overtime in today, to bad I don't pay overtime." He likes to joke around.

Well I only get weekends off every 5th and 6th weeks...then about 2(we're done at 2:45) I hear my computer make the "you have a call" sound and look up to see, "assist squad" so dispatch gives it out..."female in the park across from...hung with a dog leash"...just the way I want to end a day...well my buddy who went to the academy with me arrives when I do and there are 50+ people standing out on the street. Fortunately she was down and was gasping for air when we got there vs. dead. Squad transported her to the inner city hospital here(not our usual destination)...they intubated and fortunately she was breathing on her own. Combative and screaming upon arrival to the ER, so that's somewhat of a good sign, but a good shot of some brain damage:(... So far from what the other guys learned from interviewing the other kids present, they were playing around and she slipped off the edge of this playground equipment. Why they had leashes tied onto it and why they wrapped them around their necks, God only knows...kids' curiousity.

As it is, it seems I get more body calls on Sunday mornings than any other day. This would've been a tough one...lucky girl.

I work at a paper mill and it operates 24-7-365, so I have to work a 7 day rotating swing shift, and only get one weekend a month off. I work 7 days on each shift (8a-4p, 4p-12m, 12m-8a) then get 2 days off between each shift. I get a 4 day weekend Fri,Sat,Sun & Mon after my day shift rotation. I've been working this way for almost 15 years now.

I hate working Sundays!!! Thank the Lord I only have to work one a month. I have to work this Sunday...bummer. It seems in the retail business all the stupid people come out on Sunday, that just makes it more fun. At least we have something funny to talk about on Monday...
