V8 engine swap

I’ve got a ‘13 V6 single cab 1500.  Junkyards around town have 5.3 to the rafters, and I’ve managed to source a 5.3 w/200k miles with the 4l60e out a of a 2wd pickup.  Ultimately, the block will be bored out to make essentially a 5.7.  Here are my concerns:

 

Compatability:  

I’ve done tons of engine swaps in the past, never one in a car with so much electronics.  I’ve heard my V6 ECM can be reprogrammed to run a V8, I’ve heard it’s crucial to get the ECM from the junkyard engine.  I have concerns about a mid 2000 v8 ECM being able to integrate into a newer model truck.  

 

Is there anyone out there that’s done this kinda swap before??  What do I need to look out for?
