Has anyone had the lighting level of the Infotainment screen occasionally not brighten in the daylight or not dim in the evening? Seems only to happen at the first "changover" after first started. After that first cycle/start it works automaticly as it should. When it doesn't brighten or darken as required, I manually cycle the dash brightness toggle till it is visible in the daylight or not blinding at night. Most times it works correctly.

Sometimes it takes a few minutes for the ambient light detector in the top-middle of your dash to detect the light level at vehicle start-up. I use the remote start feature often and remove the sunshade I use in the front windshield after pressing the start button to run the vehicle. It always takes a few minutes for the instrument/ infotainment brightness to adjust to the ambient light. It’s an engineered delay to prevent excessive dimming cycles when passing under overpasses in daylight and under street lights at night.

We appreciate your honest feedback in regards to your infotainment screen brightness, Bob. To clarify, have you brought this to the attention of your servicing dealership? We hope to hear back from you soon with an update.

Anthony, thanks for your interest but during the present holiday season, the Infotainment screen will have to wait till the new year. It did happen again this AM, the next time it comes up I'm going to let it try to correct itself and see how long that takes.

Appreciate your help.

This same thing happens to my 19 Z71 almost every day. It’s quite frustrating. Dealer has never heard of it happening. I haven’t scheduled an appointment yet for them to troubleshoot.

When changing from day to night - I can just tap the +\- button down once, and the dash and infotainment go to the appropriate ‘night’ setting. Doesn’t work the other way around though. I drove for almost an hour and it didn’t change to day mode. Also interesting that it doesn’t happen when just going ‘dark’ for a short time like a tunnel or garage. Mine also seems to only do it when starting the truck.   Like if starting it up in the morning after parking it in the dark. If I’m actively driving when the sun goes down, it usually changes over fine.

Z71NY nailed it. That is exactly what mine does. You can get the darn thing to "wake up" in the morning by turning the light knob to off then back to automatic.

The dealer didn't have a clue when I mentioned this to them 6 months ago, but they did suggest I purchase some mudflaps and clearcoat protectant!

Did the dealership fix this issue after almost a year?

the screen is washed out when I  back up and I can"t find out how to get some contrast so I can see items better.  No one knows how to adjust the contrast of the image .

It’s a common issue. I had it on my 2019 but it appears to be fixed on my 2020. My Dealer never was able to fix it.

    • Can ask that about a lot of places.   Holiday sells 91 for $1 over 87 octane. BP 93 is 80 cents. Amoco 93 is 80 cents Kwik Trips is $1.20 for 92 or whatever they have and $1 for the 91.   I know that this is not exactly same as what you are saying with the premium to premium debate of those two stations but why is there such a difference. Top Tier this and that, it's all BS. All the fuel comes from the same damn refinery, so give me a break.
    • Why does Mobil Premium cost 90 cents a gallon more than Shell Premium when their regular offerings are but pennies apart?
    • Was all the way down to $3.69 a gallon but then jumped back to $3.99 just because for some reason.   Diesel floats between $4.80's to $5.10ish a gallon. I even saw Diesel #1 for $6.09 today but nobody in there right mind even buys that in the summer.
    • Mine just keeps lagging or getting stuck on the reverse camera. When I turn off the truck, get out, and close the door it will still stay on. It’s very intermittent and I would not be able to duplicate the issue.
    • I was checking out fuel prices at my farm fuel retailer at their pumps and yes the farm price is a bit lower than the non dyed fuel and was glad to see that the regular farm gas price has dropped a lot from what it had been but what blew me away was the price of diesel as the spread now compared to before the prices went up earlier in the year, diesel was actually slightly lower than gas which was a switch from the theme the last number of years. However that sure isn't the theme lately and definitely not right now. The prices I will post are not from that retailer but just looking at gasbuddy for the main city in this area and instead of posting the lowest price someone found I will list the higher price ( and that may not be the highest price, just whatever someone posted on gasbuddy ).   So regular gas and there are a lot of stations listing the same price for regular is 1.68 a liter, premium 2.00 a liter. Diesel 2.03 a liter for a top price I saw on diesel.   Figures out to 6.36 a us gallon Canadian funds for regular and 7.68 for diesel. With the US exchange rate it would be 4.58 us for regular and 5.53 for diesel.    Thought I would figure that out to get a picture of what it settles out like compared to various US prices and its about the same as the current price in Fairbanks AK as Anchorage tends to be lower. So yes, these would be the prices and higher along the way on the Alaska highway where they know they have a captured market !, for fuel prices for those beginning the long drive back to the lower 48   The problem is our Canadian dollar and going to the states that have the high prices, boy do we pay then !
