6.2 exhaust leak

I have a 2010 6.2L I just swapped the cats out and now I can’t seam to get the driver side to seal up to the header, it’s leaking bad, first round I cranked it down, thought maybe I crushed the gasket so I replaced with a new one, it’s a ring type, same leak, looked online said 35lbs torque, any ideas I’m pulling my hair out?, can I use a flat style gasket instead?

Not sure what type or connection but if it’s the ball and socket type I’ve had success on my old Vortec 5.7 using no gasket and just cranking the bolts super tight. No exhaust leak and it’s metal to metal. If it’s flat collector to flat pipe connection you need a gasket.
