4.10 cost

Can 4.10 gears be put into a 2500 quadrasteer & or a 1500 avalanche? & what would be the cost?

I have 4:10's in my 2500HD and they do launch hard, but you can watch the gas tank needle move. Do a search on the web for RANDY'S RING AND PINION. It will run you a few hundred for the install.

I'll second that. Although synthetically raising your rear end gear with a larger tire will help your mileage still suffers. But you can definately change the gears out. 10bolt GM rearend for your 1/2 ton. Dana 60 for the quadra steer setup. or a 9.75 GM 14 bolt semi floater for the 2500LD and a 14 bolt FF for a 2500HD.

When switching to new gears - do you have to reprogram anything into the car computer?

Question still remains as to whether or not it's 2wd or 4wd. If it's 4wd, you also have to change the gears in front to, otherwise the driveline will "bind" right after engaging 4wd.

To change the rear is fairly cheap, but to change the gears in front may be cost prohibitive.
