Ticking from engine

Took my 18' Silverado 6.2L in for some engine ticking noise after 45mins of running, was told that my k&n cold air intake was causing the ticking in the engine.

Anyone every have this issue or hear about it?

 

Also, as the newer GM vehicles have a "valet mode" in the radio, apparently having that set to on - causes software update issues?!?!!??! Who knew, this is new to me.

 

Again, anyone hear of this?

Oh dear, here we go. Another engine tick post!

All of the DI Ecotec engines make a ticking sound. The tick can get louder if your vacuum pump is on the way out. I would guess that maybe your cold air intake was changing the vacuum level enough to change the tick. Try putting your stock intake on and see if it quiets down. If it does, you'll know the tick is a benign issue.

I have never really used valet mode except once just to see what it did. It basically locks out the mylink/intellilink system, truck still drives the same. If you had it enabled and gave it to them, I could see where they might have been locked out of the truck's computer. Turning off valet should solve that.
