No Sound coming from the Radio - 2015 GMC Sierra 5.3L

Hi all,

 

So, as the title says, I have no sound coming from the speakers in my truck. No blinker noise, no door charm.

 

It first starting cutting out during a phone call through blue tooth audio... it sounded like something was shorting out. There was a beat to it. 

 

I noticed it would increase at stop lights, when the break pedal was compressed?

 

After youtubing soloutions, I pulled the RDO fuse, this did not solve the "shorting" sound that would cut in and out. So I tried disconnecting the battery, this also did not work. Ive also checked G218 grounds. 

 

Now there is no sound whatsoever and it has been a couple weeks. 

 

I have contacted multiple dealerships and they have told me that they do not touch anything todo with the Radio, and have to call in a specialist. So, I came here for help first!

How old is your battery? I have heard this is an issue when your battery is close to dying.

Is this a Bose or non-Bose?

 

When I was installing a sub in my 15 w/Bose, the negative terminal on the battery that I disconnected wiggled itself back to the negative post on the battery.  When I plugged the Bose amp behind the rear seat in, it immediately sparked and blew a fuse, which I believe was something like AMP in the same panel where you found the RDO fuse (passenger side dash panel).  The result was no audio/chimes/etc but the 8" screen also went blank and didnt fire up the mylink either.  

 

If you don't have a Bose system, I'd suspect the HMI module behind the glovebox (bluetooth in here, right? or is it the radio module?).  Otherwise, I'd have a look at the amp in a Bose configuration.

I am going to replace the battery and see if this solves the problem.

 

My 15 doesn't have Bose, and when i had the glovebox out I could not located the HMI, I may not have been looking in the right place when i had it apart. I will check again if this battery replacement does not solve anything.

HMI is almost vertically mounted I believe with a bunch of connectors in it.  Might be worth a shot to re-seat those as well if you're in there.  Above cabin filter.   

 

But yes I'd start with the battery/cables/connections.  Low voltage in GM cars can do all sorts of weird things.  Any strange lights or codes showing up?

No codes or lights show up... I went and grabbed a battery today, no change. Proceeded to take out glove box, disconnected and reconnected HMI, still nothing..

I feel like its got to be right at the beginning of all speaker connections?
