Lets talk shocks

So when is it time to scrap the OEM Shocks? I have about 60k miles on my 2wd tahoe lt with 17" tires and wheels.

I am assuming its already overdue!

 

What do you guys suggest for replacement? and where to get them!!

IMO, the stocker are junk about 8 1/2 miles away from the showroom. Really though, mine have lasted about 28,000. I am looking to replace mine in the spring.

I put on the Edelbrock Performer IAS's on at 60K. I'm now at 75K. A huge improvement over stock. I live on a mile long dirt lane that is full of pot holes. They handle the bumps perfectly even after 15k miles on them. Expensive, but worth it.

I loved the Edelbrocks i had on my 98, much improvement over those stock ones. Prolly will buy again. I am deciding between those and the bilstien HD's.

Bilstein HD's here. Big improvement in ride especialy when towing.

I just installed a set of Rancho RSX 17000 Shocks on my Sierra Z71. The originals were Bilsteins. What an improvement. Granted, the original Bilsteins had done their job, but were worn out. I purchased the Ranchos from http://www.summitracing.com

my stockers started leaking around 30K miles. went with the bilstein HDs through off road warehouse and love them. i'd buy em again in a heartbeat.

Guess its a matter of preference at this point.

 

Any tips on installing them, or it is a straight forward, un-bolt....bolt on situation.

 

I know the Grand Cherokees had a bar pin and it was a PITA!!!!

Job is a piece of cake.

 

That's not a bad deal. I seem to recall paying $55 a shock at truckperformance.com but I see they are now up to $66 a shock.
