Security system and truck not starting

Hi everyone I have a question about my 2001 Silverado (176k high miles)

 

So I went out to unlock my truck and noticed my key fob was not working, tried my backup and same thing. I decided to unlock it via key and by doing so it set off my security system. So while that happened I put the keys in the ignition to stop it and then start the truck, nothing. I then thought maybe if I bought new key fob batteries it would fix the problem, it didn't..new batteries and it will not lock or unlock the truck. I've tried leaving the key in the ignition for 10 mins, I've disconnected the battery and the security system goes off right when I hook it up!

 

So this morning I literally got into the truck and just held it in the lock position for 20 seconds and the truck fired up. The issue is I noticed the security light is still flashing. I did not drive it because idk if that would be safe or not 

 

Any suggestions? Could I drive the truck? Has anyone had issues similar?
