2018 Silverado 1500 Reg Cab Dash/Front Speaker Options

Ready to upgrade the stereo in my 2018 Silverado 1500 WT regular cab, and am looking at speaker choices. I would really like to mimic the OE speaker setup to some degree, and use a component speaker setup where the pair is a 6 1/2 or 6x9 using a midrange/tweeter config. One thing that is really looking interesting to me is the new Kenwood KFC-XP6903c component offering using 6x9s & a 3 1/2 mid/tweeter. My understanding is the dash speaker is a 2.75", and am wondering if there's enough meat up there to squeeze the 3.5" in there?

Anyone have a solution for this yet? Would like to see pics of the dash opening, and possibly one with a tape measure or specific speaker there, or measuring the opening. That would be extremely helpful.

What I am thinking is to use that component setup, with a pair of 4x6 in the rear pillars, and a 10" sub in a tall wedge type enclosure behind the driver's seat. Would like to use an aftermarket head unit, would like the Kenwood DMX903S, the iDatalink, and an X802-5 amp.

Anyone have any pics, tips, etc on an install that I can reference?

2 months ago I did change the door speakers and rear pillar speakers in my 2016 Silverado regular cab. My audio guy told me changing my dash speakers wouldn't make a difference so I decided to leave those in. I went with 6x9 for doors and 4x6 in pillars, couldn't be happier with the change.

Changing the dash speakers will probably make the biggest difference.  A good wideband or even tweeter would work great

Well, I've heard mixed reviews on using the dash speakers or not, and I really don't want to go to a DSP, mainly because of cost. But a component speaker setup using the dash location sounds like the best of all worlds (minus the DSP). At least there are now available.

I was going to just slam some 6x9s in the doors and leave the dash speakers disconnected, but now that a viable option is available, wondering if I should go thru the trouble of installing in the dash area. That's one reason why I was looking for pics and measurements.

Leaving the dash speakers disconnected is the worst thing you could possibly to

Either a tweeter on a passive crossover innthe dash or a nice wideband

If cost is a concern buy a component set.  Ise the mid in the door. And use the passive crossover and tweeter in the dash
