I have read up a bit on this but most people with the issue seem to have 1500's.

I have a pretty loud clunk from the rear when going at low speeds in off camber situations. Pulling into my driveway causes it or moving in parking lots....sounds like I have a 10lb weight just flopping around in the bed of my truck.

I re torqued the U bolts and leaf spring mounts and also cleaned and tried lubricating the leafs. I am pretty confident the noise is coming from the leaf packs.

Has anyone else had this issue and how did they solve it? Truck is a 16 2500HD with 34K on it.

Appreciate the input

My truck did it.  They greased the leaf springs, it worked for a while.  It started it again, really loud now.  Gotta bring it back.  Mine is right rear.  32,000 miles on it.

I just sprayed a sillicon lubricant on mine and that helped....but when its making noise its very loud.

I believe I am out of the 3 year warranty now :-(

Well the noise goes away for about a day if I lubricate them but it does come back.

Thinking I will just live with it for now and maybe have some custom leafs made in a while that hopefully will solve it.

I know yours is a 2500 but I am trying to battle this 4 trips to the dealer in and still clunking. I’m trying to figure out if it’s the springs. I get a Ka Klunk over my driveway apron. Or on right hand turns it’s not a creak I’m at a loss

Also I did grease the spring pads not the whole spring.

I think there get a grove wore in them, and it catches on the lip of the other spring and thats causes the clunk.  Mine is bad again.  Im going to call the dealer again to see if there is a fix for it now.

It sure seems from the springs. I can spray them down and it goes away for a few days.

I may cut some small rubber pads and out them between the leafs to see if that helps. It's a pretty bad noise at times. I can make it happen if I cut sideways across a driveway or hill when it makes the rear axle flex.

Can't believe GM hasn't figured this out yet....must be because the leaf spring is such a new design ?

My 2020 2500hd is doing the same thing when going over bumps like when going over a speed bump on an angle. Thought it was the spare or something above it. If you get the truck rocking from side to side by pushing on the side of the bumper ( you really have to get the sidewalls of the tires flexing)it will make the noise. (It’s not the axel end play click, it’s a deep, inside the rear clunk.)When lying under the back of the truck while someone rocks it side to side, it feels and sounds like it is coming from inside the rear. I have 17568 mi on it. It made the noise a little when new but is getting worse after 1 year of driving. This truck has never hauled or towed anything.

I think it’s inside the rear. I just posted on this. I’m going to bring it in for warranty and tell them where to look .

    • Well that book won't sell many copies. Taking ones right foot off the loud pedal never gets applause. Funny really, It isn't that people don't know what to do...they just don't want to do it. But they will complain about it. About bad craftsmanship, about the cost of fuel, about the cost of part and repairs and mainly they complain that the solution while still possible isn't one they are willing to do.    I observe this daily. 'Gas cost to much!", they wail, while they mat it passing at 80+ mpg and scoot down the road like gas cost a dime a gallon. Then complain about the few that will lift and save both fuel and iron like they are owed and own the road.    Good thing they haven't an ounce of influence on my equipment. The rest I just laugh at. Stupid is as stupid does, right Forest?
    • Today I filled up with 4.899 gallons of fuel at a cost of $4.899 a gallon. $24 bucks. 290 miles. 59.2 mpg. After my 4% COSTCO discount just under eight cents a mile.
    • Howdy folks,   Recently I pulled a heated steering wheel and clock spring out of a 2015 Sierra All Terrain (part numbers coming soon - will have to disassemble), and just installed it on my 2016 Sierra WT (as base model as it gets).   On install, I noticed that I’m missing the connector often tucked behind the dash for the heating element.     No problem… or so I thought.   I used an “Add-A-Fuse” at my heated steering wheel fuse location, which has voltage, but no wires. I ran it to the positive of the heated steering wheel (Violet/White), and took black to ground.   Hooked up the battery, turned the truck on - no heated steering wheel. No button backlights. Was pleased to see that my cruise control was working though.   Read a post suggesting reversing polarity, so I gave it a shot. Violet and White to ground, Black to power.    Aha! Heat! But I seemingly can’t turn it off AND still no backlights on any of the buttons.    Checked all fuses, everything is still in good order. I’m stumped.   Does anyone have any insight? If so, please share!
    • I'm about 1800 miles into my last oil change, and yesterday a message appeared saying oil life was at 77%. Not sure why it popped up but I think all of these electronics could be susceptible to solar flares or somesuch. I change my oil right at 3K each time, and that was the first time in 10870 miles that message came up. Strange thing is that it showed on the screen at all since I don't drive with that sort of info displayed on the DIC.
