well there is a red regualar cab, long bed in town at a dealer. I really really like this truck and this is what i need for the work i do. It is 4x4 on the floor not push button and it has the 8.1 and the ally tranny. They want 18 grand for it and it has 30,000 miles on it. looks almost brand new. what do you think?? also for you guys that own hd's what do you think of them and how much have you hauled with them?? thanks

As you can see below I wouldn't own anything else. If you have ruled out the DMAX and you are not going to whine about 9-11 mpg mileage like some folks, then go for it. I pull a 18 ft horse trailer with 4 horses and it beats any thing I have owned in the past. I put a bale spike on mine and use it to move 1400 lb hay bales off the rear of the bed. A lot of folks aren't getting much better MPG w/ the 6.0, most of the difference is the 6.0 will get better mpg on the highway than the 8.1. I bought the 8.1 mostly just because I wanted the Allison and the DMAX really did not fit my needs.

I heard that.. I drive my buddies 2002 8.1 with a ZF 6spsd 4.10 diffs. That thing is a mule it will pull anything you can hook to it and somethings you can hook but the tires don't offer enough traction to pull...

 

My 6.0 w 285's was getting about 10-11best..

Now with 245's back on ti I get about 12 so not much better and if you do the math your not saving that much on gas..

Check out the web sites for Kelly Blue Book and NADA and see what they think it's worth, then work from there.

I've had about 3K in the bed a few times. A bit less a few times more then that. The biggest thing I've ever towed was small front end loader that, together with the trailer, was about 8K. I definitely knew it was back their, but it wasn't as bad as I would have thought. And I "only" have the 6 liter.
