Backup camera comes on when braking

Recommended Posts

Recently washed my 2018 and since then my backup camera has been coming on when I brake. I was thinking it could be something with my tailgate light bar I have. It’s a putco bar and I do have the harness adapter. Anyone have some info on this?

Water is in the plug for the rear tail lights. Will go away on its own eventually. Or you can unplug the plugs and blow them dry and put dielectric grease in them.

If you google it you get many links to happens after car washes or rain.

Makes sense. I’ll go pull the tail lights and put some dielectric grease in em. Thanks for your reply.

NOT just taillights.

Crawl under rear bumper on drivers side. Look for junction box everything is plugging into.

You WILL break a bunch of those little red clips trying to get them out. This is WHY these trucks also pop fuses trying to tow a camper or boat and lose lights behind that thing.

Rain gets into that junction box for allllllllll those plugs. You will find it, Keep a box of 20amp mini fuses in the glovebox.

Smear the dielectric grease on the wires outside of the plug too where you can SEE water gets in. Chinesium wiring.
