ARE topper latch/wiring help

The topper that came with my 18 Sierra is having issues unlocking with the key fob. When I first bought it, the lock didn’t work. Turns out they used scotch locks. I took it back and they said they took them out and it worked fine for about a month. There’s a small controller on the inside of the topper that I can check power at. I ASSUME everything should be 12V. Just wanted to make sure.
