Zane,

Pretty good article. Do you have any more photos? I'm really interested in the extended cab. What are your impressions of the rear seat area in these trucks?

I think I will miss the off the line performance of the 4.3 engine, I very much like that. even though mine is 160HP it does very well with the overall setup.

You lucky Dog  , Mine will be here soon I guess, but not soon enough

Good articles and pics.

I liked yours better than PickupTruck.com as you have a current S-10 and could compare the 2 side by side.

Did you get to park your S-10 next to the corresponding Colorado or Canyon?

How tight was the Colorado ZQ8? Not so much the handling, but the structure. My '96 Sonoma seemed to exhibit some torsional "anomalies" over certain surfaces.

In terms of handling, the old ZQ8 felt heavy. Both in steering feel and turn in quickness. Does the new one feel as heavy? Or does it feel more nimble?

Thanks for all your hard work Zane. We really appreciate it.

Now I can't wait to go to a local dealer and see & touch one.

any info about the new transmission (5 speed) would be appreciated. How did it shift and perform, how was the clutch and was the 5 speed well integrated in the truck' s interior design. The silverado is guilty of being set up mainly for the automatic driver as the clutch is in an akward position according to some people i've talked to. Does the colorado have enough room between clutch and parking brake to rest your left foot? Great job whetting our appetites for the new trucks.

What happened to the 60 odd pictures? I wish you had more pics of the GMC version. Is there a good reason why they're a couple hundred dollars more than the Colorado at the same trim level? I really like the direction that ford is going with their F-150 pickups - snazzy, extreme high quality interiors and superior mechanics. If only the Rangers were up for a redesign soon. I think they're going to be the mid-size pickups to beat when they do come out. Like Mervz eluded to, I think the Canyon/Colorado will very quickly become trumped by the competition. I guess I shouldn't jump to conclusions until I actually test drive the Canyon/Colorado, but I'm pretty disappointed so far.

What do you guys think?

caspar7777,

that article has been out there for a while. They jumped the gun on the release date. (Not Complaining). It is a good article, but I did like Zane's. I wouldn't say that theres was more professional. I would say that Zane's was more frankly written.

I too would like to see more photos, but who if not I guess I'll have to wait for mine.

Check out Coloradofans.com , I built a lot of links there and some go to articles.

Thr trucks sound nice. I can understand making them nto more of a daily driver, but I want something that will WORK. FIll the bed with top soil or sand and point it up a hill. Maybe hook a trailer to it and see i how it hauls a couple dirt bikes. I really like tgese trucks but it looks more and more like I'll be getting a base model full size. The article was okay, Just remeber folks, It's a driving impression not a full test. One last thought....SUPERCHARGER

Hi,

I was wandering if you would have any insight as to how you think they will pull,

as i already ordered a colorado in the blind i might, add weeks ago without much info. I have a bad habit of running of to the lake with my bass boat on the weekends and my current s10 with the 4.3 does a great job but i want more interior room so i opted for the colorado just like my 10 but with the I5!

I must admit I'm very curious to find out anything on towing with these trucks.

thanks.

HEY IMPORTANT QUESTIONS PLEASE.. did the Colorado Sport you drove have the I5? and I notice on all the interior pictures the Air Conditioning is on... when you commented on its lack of low end grunt was the A/C on?

thanks for the reply and nice article and awesome pictures.

I was excited about the sport model, but I dont like that GM has ignored the worst stuff about the old trucks. The seats in my Blazer break all the time and I see that they are the same, and whats up w/ the drum brakes in the rear? Come on how much $$ would that add to the price. I would have liked to see a little larger version of the current S10 w/ a SLIGHTLY updated front end and the 4.8 V8 that'd be perfect. 220lbs*ft may seem a little wimpy to some of us that are used to around 250....

Spoken like a fellow ZR2 owner.

Edit: as far as the features are concerned... (just for clarification, not agreeing with the angry Mexican comment)
