DRAMAX High idle

2017 Duramax with AFE programmer and intake

My truck idles high like 750 plus rpm only after I get on it hard , gas mileage goes to shit quick . then I normally return the programmer to lowest mode and after 5 or 6 re starts and drives it will return to normal around 6 - 650 rpm .

Any ideas is it the programmer ? I get a bad exhaust smell also when high idle and of course the transmission has no idea what's going on .

Remove programmer if you can and see if it fixes it.

Sounds like its in regen

Throw that programmer out the window.  Sounds like its running too hard of a tune and loading the DPF with soot really quick and making it regen more than it should.
