Tosion Bar

I have a 01 2500 HD and I wanted to tighten the torsion bars. I know how the mechanical aspect works but I do not know exactly HOW to do it. I don't want to screw anything up (wear and tear, alignment and so on). 1) Is this a simple thing to do? 2) How do you do it 3) How much? Thanks, these forums' are great!

Thanks DSZ71,

I like that link, I might have to join that one too! I did read that he advised when cranking the T-bar anything over 1" that I would need to get the alignment rechecked, does anyone have any experience cranking it 1.5-2" and did it mess with the alignment?

Before my lift, I was running my torsion bars set at 2" (but I also had the Phord keys installed), but I did in fact need the alignment checked. Although, the alignment is not a big deal, I always have my alignment checked on a yearly basis, or when I get new tires, and I planned it that when I got new tires, I did the install....killed 2 birds with one stone!

I highly recommend that other forum, has a lot of info, just like this one. And sometimes you learn something new on both.

Yup, the green keys are what you need for the HD model trucks. And in fact, these are the keys that come on the stock 1/2 tons. So unlike me, you will not need a Phord part, but merely a GM part. It was an easy install as well. It took me like 30 minutes to do, and I imagine that the HD models are similar. Good luck
