Oem Tow Mirrors HardWire

Has anybody here hardwire some oem tow mirrors before? I have a 2014 gmc sle with no options on the mirrors. I purchased some oem tow mirrors. They are not power fold but have the other option on the tow mirrors. Just wanted to see if anybody has wire there tow mirrors before. I have talked to Phil Gamboa about his custom harness but they are a lil pricey. So wanting to see if I can hardwire to save me some money. I did wire the tow mirrors to see what options worked. The turn signal worked and when I wanted to adjust the mirror they would only go side to side . It would not go up and down. The running lights didn’t work either. If no one has done it before I guess I would just have to buy Phil’s harness. I did buy the mirrors used and they came with the harness that the other guy had.

Let me see if I can help you on this to help clarify a few things.

 

1.  If you are DIY inclined and feel comfortable modifying your factory door harnesses, I have a lower cost DIY kit that you can use to make the modifications to your door harnesses.

 

2.  The door harnesses you got with the mirrors won't work because they came from a truck with a higher trim with the Seat Memory/Mirror Memory feature.  Since our trucks don't have that, you've lost functionality when you installed them.  Passenger side won't adjust/move at all, and driver side will only move left/right (just like you described).

 

3.  In addition to all this, your truck is a 2014.  This means your door jamb (where the harness plugged in) is missing some pins.  You are missing pins 9 and 11.  This is why the turn signal worked but then amber running light and cargo light didn't.  There is an additional cabin/under the hood harness (Part # 23387133) that you'll need to get those pins landed.
