Lifted Silverado SS?

I was actually considering doing that... i like the fact that it's AWD and I think it'd make a great lifted truck...anyone know if there's anything about the SS that would prevent it from being properly lifted or whatnot? I know it's a street truck, but the AWD is just something that most trucks should have imo...

how does it perform lifted? I'm thinking about going with a much bigger lift and bigger tires though, but that definitely looks pretty hot

The only difference between an SS and a regular 4x4 (or Z71) suspension-wise is the lack of 2" lift blocks on the rear which I imagine you would probably swap out during a lift anyway.

Basically, anything you can do to lift a 4x4, you can also do to an SS.

......lack of 2" lift blocks on the rear...

Yup. Add the 2" steel spacer block between the top of the rear axle perch and the bottom of the leaf spring and like magic, you'll have a Z71 height rear suspension. If you want the front higher, well...there's always the torsion bar crank.

The picture posted is a photochop of my SS with about a 4-5" lift front and rear. Debadged with some off road tires 35" tires on the factory 20" wheels would make for a sweet looking machine.

My SS is used off-road so lifting it and putting skid plates on is probably in my future someday. I bought the SS because of the 345 hp, AWD and lack of chrome, not it's street prowess, that's what Lightnings are for. My SS is a real truck, it hauls stuff, tows stuff, gets dirty and lives in the dirt!

See the pic below? That's my SS on top of a real pile of dirt about 20' high that was piled beside a highway reconstruction project. Dirt > Asphalt. :nono:

I was also interested in the SS for the same reasons you are... plus, the grill just seems to look a bit better than the standard 2003/2004 Silverado (which I kind of find to be pretty ugly)...the awd and bigger vortec 6000 is also a big attraction ... :D

That big chrome grille bar is  and makes the 2003's ugly. My previous machine was a '02 Z71 LT and I hated the new '03 front end until I saw the SS.

I agree with you SinisterSS... it would be a bad ass truck lifted...I'm actually glad a lot of people disagree with that because once we're the first that do it I'm sure we'll change some opinions lol... a lifted 345hp (soon to be 400 if i grab the SS) with AWD that can tow and hold it's own is bad ass...beats the hell out of 4WD that's for sure... I will put an 8 inch lift (since the truck is dropped 2 inches, I'm tehnically putting a 6 inch lift), with some big ass knobby tires (either Super Swampers or SuperComb Off-Road) with some nice rims... might add some silver body molding and painted color matched fender flares with some sort of bedside sticker.. i like the red chevy emblem and the SS windshield logo that you got there... might have to borrow one of those  ...

and I dont know about you guys, but I'm not a fan of those white gauges at all...never have been...those will be changed if I get an SS.

I have taken my SS down a few dirt roads too. I find the stock ride height is just enough to get to the kinds of places I like to go.

Are you thinking about something like this d2alio ?

needs bigger tires...lol... no just kidding...

well I definitely want to lift it, but not THAT much of a lift haha.. will have to get an 8 inch lift, which would make it a 6 inch lift if it were at a regular silverado stock height... and will put some bigger assed tires... I've all ready starting dreaming up a concept of what I want to do with it as far as aftermarket...

If someone wants to lift a Silvarado SS, I say go for it. Stock sucks! Lift it, lower it , just don't leave it bone stock. It's nice to see something different. The only thing I would suggest when dealing with a "special edition" or "limited edition" truck like an SS, is don't do anything that can't be easily undone. Also, be sure to keep all the stock parts, so it can be returned to original. I've seen a couple of lifted Harley Davidson F-150's, and Lightnings that looked killer. I think a SS with about a 6 inch lift and some 33's or 35's on some of the newer 18 inch off-road style rims (like Welds) would look killer.

for sure man... I've only seen like one Silverado SS over here in Southern California on the streets, and the rest I've seen were in car shows...all of which were lowered or were left stock. All the more reason I'd like to get an SS and lift it (i'd have like the ONLY lifted one haha)

Frankly, I love the fact that the SS is AWD...and I think that beats the hell out of a 4x4...that's actually my only reason for wanting it...well, that and the 345hp Vortec 6000 :puke:

If I decide to go for it I intend to change a LOT on it. For starters, it will receive about an 8 inch lift with possible 36" tires with some nice rims probably around 16" inches. After that I'm gonna swap out the whole interior. I don't don't know what's up with truck manufacturers, but I want BLACK LEATHER and BLACK INTERIOR...not a dark grey... especially since it looks brownish' when it wears out :puke:

I'd list what I intend to do, but it's so much that I'd rather not... plus I want to keep my ideas to myself so that someone with more money than myself doesn't do my ideas first lol... :nono:

*dreams of his lifted SS AWD* :D
