Hello, I’m looking at changing out my factory screen with the 12” T style radio. Just wondering how many guys are running these & what there thoughts are. Pros & cons? How is the fit & finish?

Thanks.

What options do you have now. I have changed out my stock radio for a pioneer nex receiver. Here is what i needed to retain mostly stock.

Idatalink rr. Lets you retain and access the trucks settings

Maestro Gm3 harness adapter
If bose equipped bose bypass amp harness or the alpine bose interface. Adc mobile sells a similar one with their android setups.

If you bypass bose amp you will need 4ch amp and bass blockers for tweeters. 2 or 1 channel amp for sub.

Every kit should have backup camera adapter.

I am into this journey for 1000. I have movies in motion, can play a movie to the rear monitor for kids via sd card, miracast, dvd. While they are watching something i can have miracast, android auto, or pandora playing up front. Best feature right now is wireless miracast that controls my phone touch inputs from headunit. I also like wireless android auto.

Any questions shoot away. I spent more than i wanted to but that's always my case. Think only 3 or 4 radios have been swapped and there wasn't any info when i searched for it.

They’re pretty buggy still. I got one for my tundra a while back and ended up taking it back out. Any hard controls like HVAC that turn into software keys can stop responding and it just leaves it on the last setting. Which can be annoying if the fan was set to high, then its stuck that way. It retained most/all of the steering wheel controls, but the biggest thing I hated is it’s an android OS. so it’s open source and just a shambles. They have ones that still run CarPlay (if you have an iPhone, but the radio has google maps right on it and you can add Waze and whatever else for weather and traffic right from the google play store. Plus YouTube, and a web browser. BUT for any of it to really work you have to use your phone’s hotspot. So that’s only as good as your signal. And the defense that it has a gps antenna so that stuff will always work isn’t entirely true. You still need a data signal for the map to load unless it’s already downloaded.

They look really nice tho. The fit is pretty amazing and the huge screen looks pretty cool. But in the end it wasn’t reliable or stable enough for me.

How many inch screen does your pioneer have?
The nex series is a 7". Headunit i got for 600, idatalink and gm3 harness was around 200. 4ch amp and rca was 120. I reused the stock bezel. I like the look of the android setup but didnt wanna spend close to 1500. Heck didnt even wanna spend 1000. Only plus now is i jave the rear seat entertainment for my kids when i trailer and miracast.

This is the 7200, swapped it out for a 8400 didnt like how the 7200 functioned. When the weather gets warmer i will finnish the openings around the radio and bezel. 409b974149c50f972b5406e991efdb2d.jpg
