Black02Silverado Posted October 24, 2003 Posted October 24, 2003 Here it is again. I did a search to see if there is anything related to this topic as in this specific size tire and no results were found. Is anyone out there running this size on there 1500 Silverado? It is a pretty tall tire at 33 inch tall. Even taller than the 285/75x16 that most are running. The trick is it is a thinner tire. So it would seem that it should fit since it is thinner but was wondering if anyone is running it. I want to get this size for my next tire purchase but it is hard to get anyone to let me put it on to see if it will fit before I buy. It isn't a common size so no one around here carries it and it will have to be ordered. Thanks
Steverado 99 Posted October 25, 2003 Posted October 25, 2003 I've got LT255/85-16s Cooper Discoverer STs on my 99 Silverado 1500 4x4. They fit without rubbing and I did not crank the t-bars. The tires fill up the wheel well nicely but they do look a little skinny from the front or rear. The only problem I found is that there aren't a lot of tires this size and the ones that are happen to be mud tires. Steve
Black02Silverado Posted October 25, 2003 Author Posted October 25, 2003 Thanks Steve, Now I can get those. They were the ones I was looking at. I wish the BFG's A/T's came in that size but only the mudders do. How do you like the Coopers? Did you get a good price? Thanks again
Steverado 99 Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 The Cooper STs are a decent tire, but, I haven't been able to go offroading since I got them and that was my main reason for picking them The tires are somewhere between an AT and an MT tire and much better than the stock Firestones I had. They do hum on the highway because they are pretty aggressive for a street tire but nothing I can't drown out with the radio. The ride is frimer with the larger tire which I definately like. The only other problem I had was the spare tire. I had an aftermarket hitch which I had to sell at a loss and then had to buy the factory hitch because the tire wouldn't fit under the truck with my old Drawtite. I have about 25,000Kms and they still have lots of tread left, they are tough to find here in Canada but I got them for $190CDN installed etc. A BFG AT tire at 265/75-16 (one size smaller) goes for about $230CDN from what I remember. Black02Silverado Posted October 27, 2003 Author Posted October 27, 2003 Thanks Steve, The price here in NC is $160 a tire. I'm looking at getting them next from what I have read, they are a good tire. I want a taller tire but not any thing wider. I figure that they are a 33 inch tire compared to the stock tires and the 285/75 x 16 tires. Not thrilled with outlined white letters but I can live with that. I figure I got 41k on the stock Firestones and will need the new tires by spring, so to start saving now.
