Dual battery isolating Relay blowing fuse!?

Dual Battery Setup Keeps popping Fuse! Please Help

This is my dual battery relay setup and I've noticed that I'm needing to put my aux battery on a charger about once a week which tells me the relay isn't actually working. Adding that to that, (after finally having a moment to check what's going on) I notice that the 10A fuse at point #5 on the diagram is always popping on key turn. I've tapped that fuse because its supposed to enable the relay to close thus charge that 2nd battery but that's clearly not working. The relay I have is a xscorpion amazon special (the 4 prong out the side unlike the 4 posts on top like the PAC200 or the IB-500, but i believe the concept is the same).

Given the diagram, does anyone know what I may have incorrect? I've tried the switching points at points #2 & #3 and no dice. that still pops the fuse at point 5

Interesting enough, out of desperation (and this is dumb, i know), when the key was out, I took the tap off the fuse #5 and touched it to #6 and got a spark which makes me confused.

Below is the real install under my hood (the line to #5 is disconnected in lieu of figuring this out because i'm running out of fuses!)

This is what I’m hooking up

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. It is very much appreciated!

Check out this thread. It also has another batt wiring diagram. Your issues lye with the isolator. Swap it... https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink/topic?url=https://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/235541-2016-gmc-sierra-low-charge-voltage-fixed/&share_tid=235541&share_fid=33003&share_type=t&link_source=app

I say keep it simple. Meaning do your own thing and dont rely on gm. Heres a good isolation setup. https://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_18726_PAC-SPR-200.html?from=3-701

Also in the description of your current isolator it states when 12v is applied the batts will remain separate. So the one i posted is a go for you given its within you amp draw.

THIS LINK IS GOLD. thank you! it is actually a confirmation of this This link that i read about some time ago but just ignored the context about the HAL Sensor effect it for some reason. Thank you again. !! I just ordered the PAC 200 and i'll get the right sized ground to connect the 2 batteries

I have zero issues with charging with separate grounds. Its 50/50. Once that pac is installed check the charging and you may just be good. If not you've got somewhere to start from. Mind i ask what was the second batt needed for again?

Of course - it’s Just to keep the load of my amps in DSP off the main system. I’m also going to be running a raspberry pie which of course isn’t much at all but it gives me some perceived flexibility in adding more accessories back there without everything landing on the main battery.

Lol. The DSP is the Dayton audio dsp-408. Incredible value for what you get. I bought it on a whim after asking for a recommendation because I was going to get the audio control one. Someone said that it was a heck of a steal. I bought it and no one posted about it and then somewhat recently the guys from fivestar car audio gave it a review and showcased it. Really a neat unit for what you pay. For me it’s perfect to feed the skate audio subs signal at the right frequency and width. I actually sold my sundown 10a and landed on the skars because the audio was so comparable after feeding both with the dsp. Now with the better signal I’m looking forward to what will happen because I know I’ve got some ground leakage occurring

This looks like a very good deal for setting up the trucks audio. Couple questions. Where are you getting the signal for the dsp from and how much has the clarity/ power from the dsp improved over stock?

Right. So i have the bose setup so i'm grabbing highlevel inputs from the bose amp using the t harness from llj customs - its this one . They have a bunch of different options and if i were to do it again, i'd choose the one where they make RCA for me however i didn't do that so i just had wires provided out of the bose amp (6 wires). from there i took 4 of them and connected to RCA (i actually don't know what the other 2 do) and feed those into the DSP. the DSP has 4 in so really i have another 2 RCAs i could feed into but i don't know what i'd use because inside the DSP software i can chop up the sound across the 8 channels out. To that end, I use 4 of the out channels to feed 2 amps a lower signal. Does that help?

Nice and most deffinetly helps. Sound quality is good i hope?

Very nice. You know, what I haven’t tested is the quality of the sound going from the dsp to some mids or highs. I was actually looking for a speaker mod that could go in the rear pillar. But no dice/time
