This is problem that I've had for a couple of weeks now. When I'm driving my dashboard quages will all go off and bottom out and then right back on and in the information box the battery light flashes. This also makes my transmission act funny and miss shifts or not shift at all. But when I stop the truck and turn it off and let it sit a few minutes. When I start it back up it usually runs fine for a little while. But it does it again. I have a 2001 silverado Z-71.

Go have the battery and alternator checked at your local parts store (it's free).

 

If they are performing OK, it's probably your battery cables, they can look fine, but be corroded to he!! on the inside.

 

It would definately cause your truck to exhibit these symptoms.

Did you disconnect your battery as some point, you may have broken the battery case... check the connections on the battery.
