Infotainment system update after warranty? Cost?

'16 Sierra with the 8" screen.  Has Apple Play but from my reading it needs an update to the system to be able to use Android Auto.  Correct?  It is out of original warranty (but I bought a 2/25K with it).  Is the dealer the only option?  Cost?  Any members here or aftermarket companies doing this stuff?

ON your RPO code tag in your glove box, look for IO5, or IO6.

 

5 is the first generation HMI 2.0, 6 will be the updated HMI 2.5, the one with the most capabilities.

It's IO5.

So, can upgrade your HMI to a 2.5 (IO6), and have all the current functions that were available for the K2's.

 

They make two versions, one locked, which you will need to take to the dealer to be set up, or an unlocked version which has been mentioned on here that you can just do it yourself and it works.

 

No idea on cost, something I have not looked into because I have IO6 from the factory.
