Green Key info needed

I'm looking to get some info for a friend on these green keys people are talking about.

Are they GM keys?, Ford keys?, Aftermarket?, And will they work on a 1500 to provide an inch or two or lift?

The green keys are actually the stock keys from the 1500 series trucks (non HD). They are used to level out the 2500HD and 1500HD trucks. If you have a 1500 series truck you will need the Ford keys from a 2000 F-150 to level it. Here are the numbers.

Green Keys = GM #15592573 look at www.gmpartsdirect.com

Ford Keys = FM #XL3Z5B328CA look at www.fordpartsonline.com

Not to ask a stupid question (the last time I lifted a truck was when they were straight axles on both ends and was relatively simple) but dont you lose some strength when replacing a part designed for a 3/4-1 ton pickup with something for a 1/2 ton?

Nope! They are the exact same keys, exact same part number, only difference is that the hex for the torsion bar is indexed a little different for the different keys. Each key is identified by a splash of paint on them and that is where they get the names "green keys (1/2 ton)", "purple keys (3/4 ton)".
