Hello folks,

Has anyone installed the Putco blade tailgate light bar (or any other brand) on a 2020 CTB?  I've reviewed several vids online that show the install between the top of the rear bumper and below the tailgate, however, there doesn't seem to have that space free on the trail boss?? Am I missing something or is there another option?

Appreciate any thoughts or ideas ya might have

I installed the Putco blade on my 2020 HC and the gap is a lot smaller on these than the 2018 series. I was still able to mount it without removing the gate. use a little masking tape to hang the light bar while aligning it. I used the top of the spot welds as my guide. There is a group of them on each side. bcc7110487eb803854a9bc8a4d93bf80.jpg

Thanks for the reply.  That's a sweet looking mod sir!! I was trying to find the actual physical dimensions for the bar before buying one, aside from the length obviously. Yours looks like the 48"??  It must be considerably thinner and narrower than I thought it would be. My concern was that the bottom of the tailgate would hit the light when it came down. Apparently not though

That’s the 60” blade with amber. They made this thing very slim, so there are no issues hitting it with the tailgate when it opens. Get the Putco wiring harness for sure. Makes installation simple and no electrical/error issues.

Here’s a couple close ups so you can see where it sits.

Right on, thanks for that!

Yeah, that bar is considerably thinner and narrower than I had imagined it would be. The YouTube vids that I saw on the installs show that it comes with attachment clips and the 3M tape. Did you use the clips or tape it directly on? Cant tell if that's one of the clips in the top pic of yours

I used the clips, I put the 3M tape on the clips and clipped them onto the bar. Then put the bar in position, made sure I had some alignment points (the center seam on the bar and the hole for the gate wire, the weld spots and those two openings) peeled off the backing and pressed on the bar where the clips are. I didn’t want to stick the whole bar on just in case it fails it would be a huge pain the butt to remove. The adhesive prep is awesome so be careful when you stick those 3M sticky pads on a prepped area. I did have to move one a tiny bit, but it worked out.

Would it be possible to mount it on the underside of the tailgate in the recess?  I think it would look good if you saw the glow but not the light itself.

it's a different light strip but here's what mine looks like in action. I took my tailgate off, it's really simple to install. I taped several leveling blocks across the install area and it makes it much easier.
