Electronic Parking brake question?

My friend just bought a 2020 Silverado, gorgeous truck. Being DIY’ers, we know that a scan tool will be needed to put ebrake in service mode, but will this need to be done to service the rear brakes? Or is that just to swap rear rotors?

  If I were a betting man I'd say you need a bi-directional scan tool in order to get trapped air out of the ABS. That's the trend things have been heading toward for many years now. They don't want anyone working on "THEIR" vehicles at home. The, "you bought it, but WE own it" mentality is rampant today. I always just kept the master full, and used a vacuum bleeder to pull the new fluid out. I would start off by emptying the master with a turkey baster, fill with fresh fluid, then start at the right rear, then left rear, then right front, ending at left front.

  Is that starter old enough to have a mechanical external engagement Bendix Solenoid? You really like this vehicle. I would too. Labors such as these are not done for profit. Affection is much closer. Love it to death young one and enjoy the fact you still can. I'm jealous. Not of the vehicle, although I do like it, but of the focus, energy and commitment. You da man!

  Thanks. Yes, I removed the phone from the infotainment system, and I also removed the "my gmc" from my phone several times. maybe it will get better with time, or I'll have to get used to plugging it in all the time.
