New tires

First I wanted to say thanks to everyone who welcomed me to the forum, sorry it took me so long to get around letting you know I appreciated the warm welcome :sigh: On to my question, I want to put a two inch suspension lift on my truck and get some bigger than stock size tires on my seventeen inch wheels. Any suggestions for what size tires I can get and still keep the same wheels?

Just the stockers. 225/75-16

wouldnt the stockers be 245-75-16?

Anyway there are a lot of people on here running BF Goodrich a/t kos and they seem to like them

I am running cooper discoverer a/t and i love them so far great in sticky sticky mud thats about 6 inches deep . thats the toguhest situation that ive been in with them so far .

OK then....Two inch suspension lift. Who makes a 2 incher? Anyone? And I don't mean the Ford keys, and add-a-leaf either.

That would look good with some 305s under there. Not too big, not too small....juuuuuust right.

Fabtech makes a 2" suspension lift, at least for the 2wd models. But I'm not sure they make that small of a "true" suspension lift for the 4wd models (as someone corrected me in another post).

Anyhow, yeup some 305's would look real good. But I think they are too fat for the stock rims, regardless of whether they are 16" or 17" ones. Also, when I was talking to my local offroad shop they didn't recommend 305's with the 2" lift but rather 295's. It didn't make alot of sense to me, especially if you run custom rims with the right offset. :sigh:

I know a guy with 305 Yokohama Geolanders on stocker rims, and they are wearing like iron. They look too big without any type of lift, but they will fit, if you can talk the local shop into mounting them that is. :sigh:

On 4wd models, all I have seen is 4" and up, no 2" lifts anywhere. Odd but true. I like the look of 285's, but my shop here would not put them on stock rims, I know go to a different shop. I ended up with the Cooper S/Ts in a 265 and love them. Adding the Ford keys this week. BFG's are way too high priced in my opinion, the Cooper S/T had comparable or better reviews, and saved me $200. I got mine for $500 out the door, with rotation, siping, and install.

I guess it depends on if your truck is a 4x4 or not.

I asume it is, so I would recommend 285's if you leave it stock. For a 2 inch lift, most use a body lift. While I am not a fan of body lifts, a 2 incher is not bad.

I have 285's on my stock truck but with a 2 inch lift, 305's on 8 or 10 inch wide wheels with the proper backspacing would look great and fit great as well.

Good Luck! :sigh:

w/ a 1990 (old bodystyle) truck and a 2" lift you should be able to clear some 305's. Look into the pro-comp x-terrains. You can find them at 4wheelparts.com

What kind of 2" suspension lift are you going to get?

Rough Country makes a two inch for 4WD, and there's two inch lifts with EZ-Ride. I'm thinking of going with the ez-ride lift for nicer street manners.
