Alternator Question

Recommended Posts

Posted

I went to buy a new serpantine belt yesterday for the Z-71 and the guy said there's two belts, one for the trucks with 100 amp alternators and one for the 130 amp ones. Apparently, there's a difference in lengths between the two.

How do I know which one I have? Is there an easy way? My truck has the towing package and, I think, the plow package.

On another note, does anybody have any recommendations for an aftermarket alternator for a 2000 Tahoe (NBS)... mine is on the fritz and my Optima Yellow top is about all that keeps me having enough power with all my lights and AC coverters and winch... any advice would be appreciated...

Thanks everyone- I also heard the 130 Amp unit came only with the plow package in regular 1500s, and that the plow package was not available on Z-71s. That would indicate the 100 Amp unit in my truck.
