Video: How To Replace Motor Mounts on a K2xx

Hello Everyone,

So this weekend I decided to Replace my Motor Mounts, and discovered a couple of neat tricks and observations that may help anyone who also wants to do it as a DIY.

I replaced my mounts with a set of Atomic Fabrication and Performance Poly Mounts. They were so much easier to install: https://atomicfabandperformance.com

Replacing the Mounts can be achieved at home with common tools and a jack, like I did, but after doing it, it would have been much much easier to do with a 2 post Lift

In a nutshell, its easier if you loosen all the Motor Mounts chassis' side bolts at the same time so you can push the engine up and pry it side to side to gain a bit more space to pull the motor mounts out.

I also had to remove my starter be able to remove the passenger side mount and since I deleted the vacuum pump, it made much easier to remove the drivers side. I have LongTube Headers, so that didn't help, because they offer way less clearance than stock manifolds. For the passenger side Motor Mount I decided to call a friend for help, because I was not comfortable anymore being under a swiveling engine. I was also tired and didn't want to lose a finger.

The process may differ from truck to truck (2wd/4wd):

-Break loose all of the Bolts on both Mounts (4 on each side of the block, 3 on each side of the chassis)

-Remove Starter Motor

-Remove Vacuum Pump ** (maybe?)

-Jack the engine up a little from the center of the oil pan

-Loosen 3 Chassis side bolts on both engine mounts, but leave them with a couple of threads to keep the mount centered

-Jack the engine up the rest of the way (until the intake manifold touches the top of the firewall

-Remove The 4 Block Bolts and 3 Chassis bolts on the desired mount; You may need to pry the engine side to side

-Replace Motor Mount and snug the 4 Block bolts well (use thread locker)

-Leave the 3 chassis bolts in there place but loose

-Remove and replace the other mount and replace it the same way

-Lower the engine a bit so you can snug all of the chassis bolts

-Remove Jack

-Tighten everything well

-Reinstall Starter Motor

-Reinstall Vacuum Pump ** (?)

Here is he video, My YouTube channel helps me pay for my student loans, so support there is greatly appreciated:

Im curious to know if you can replace motor mounts with a different method, like by removing the Stock Exhaust Manifolds, or the way I did it is the easiest one
