front rims always dirty with dust???

anyone else have this problem with the front rims are always dirty with dust? The back tires are perfect?

 

Had the brakes checked and they are fine? If others have this issue, is there anytying i can put ont he front rims to lessen this?

It's really new so I doubt that you could pick it up just anywhere.That web site is probably your best bet but you may find it at napa

I've seen plastic dust plates that go between the inside wheel and rotor.

 

Ceramic pads are becoming available for more applications, so that could be a future option.

Dust shields have proven to also reduce the flow of cooling air, so those who use their brakes hard will have higher rate of wear on both friction material and rotor. Plus braking ability reduced to too hot components. Some makers no longer warranty brake/wheel/etc components if they find dust shields used.

 

Ceramic is great stuff....if it's compounded correctly. Very high temp and not very good on the low temp end. So whatever they compound it with critical to over all performance.

 

Have tried NAPA ceramic, Wagner Carbon Metalic, Praise Dyno Stage I & II, Performance Friction Z, Raybestos HD, Bendix HD, and some forgotten about. Like the Praise Dyno best.

 

Dusting on all of them. Best on this front were the NAPA ceramic, but they don't brake as well as the Wagner Carbon Metalic. None of them braked as well, over all, as the Praise Dyno. Performance Friction Z's were just as great as the Praise in high temp range, but next to nothing when cold....actually dangerous, as went through an intersection one morning when it was very cold.

 

Simple Green straight up in hand held spray bottle. Paint brush. Hose down and high pressure through wheel holes to get dust off back side. Soak with Simple Green, then high pressure off the next. Come back and use paint brush on all surfaces. Hose off, then go to next and next till done.

 

Read the warning labels on braking stuff. Nasty stuff if the warnings indicate anything. Don't breath any of it.

Have you recently had the brakes worked on or replaced? The OEM pads will not make dust. Well my don't. If you buy less expensive pads then they will make a lot of dust. Stay away from the plastic dust protectors, like the other guy said they prevent cooling and also if you mud or go onto a gravel road they can keep debris on the rotors long enough to cause damage.
