Task lighting modification

Greetings all, 

New member here. I just picked up a 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 and I'm looking to make a modification to the task lighting. I know that boost auto parts makes a harness that will allow for task lighting on with the high beams, however I'd like to have them set up for independent function. Has anyone done this yet? Thanks for the replies.

Just installed the mod. I did install a switch on the hot connection so I can turn them on when needed.

Do you have any pictures of the mod you did to make this work? Im assuming that by hot connection you're referring to power coming from the X5 connector and tying into a switch connected to X7 connector pins 5 & 17 ( Task lights) ?

Cut the red wire ( see pic) and spliced a switch. The 2nd pic shows where I mounted the switch.

Gotcha, thanks for the reply! I'll have to pick up a switch and try this one out.

So you still have to have the high beams on to use the switch?
