Sport Bar Third Brake Light and Cabin Third Brake Light/Cargo Lamp

On 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 Double Cab 4WD SLT All Terrain.

 

Should the Sport Bar light up when the Cargo Light feature is on? 

 

I noticed the Sport Bar blocks the top rear cabin third brake light beam. 

 

The Third brake light on sport bar is not illuminated using the cargo light feature.  Is this the way it should be. 

 

I read on here that the sport bar light was to run parallel to third brake light upon installation.
