I believe across all GM models, messages are now accessible through Android Auto / Apple Car Play to read/hear incoming and respond.

I was reading a previous thread from this website and several people said they were able to get the hands free system put back on their vehicle by contacting GM at [email protected]. I tried sending a message to this email and it came back to me as unsent. Not sure if they removed this email or what could have happened. Using the external apps they talk about seems like going in reverse in technology. They had a great system that was easy to use. It used the vehicle bluetooth and was hands free and safe. Using the app seems like you have to use your cell phone and could be very unsafe and unlawful. I am hoping someone out there has the solution.

Thanks, MRL

The previous interface supported the use of the touch-screen to activate apps and such. The new interface prohibits touch interactions and moves everything to voice activated. There genuinely is no reason to continue to support the touch screen interface for activation, input, or output since that all requires taking your eyes off of the road.

I'm pretty sure that there is a way to make the old system operable by using voice commands or steering wheel buttons. That to me would be better than these new apps.
