If you look at most tire manufacturers web pages, some will have a chart that gives a list of tire sizes, gives the size of the tire in inches, gives recommended width of the rim that the tire should be on and also a list of minimum and maximum width rims for the tire. The BFG site has a great chart. Anyway, most charts recommend a minimum of an 8 inch wide rim and factoy rims are 7 inches.

I have heard of a lot of people who do this without problems, but I do like to listen to manufactureres recommendations, especially something as important as tires.

Good Luck!

I currently am running 285 BFGs on American Racing 16x8 Pythons - they look good, but I really like the look of those tires on the stock rims...it is a really clean look. Only advantage to the wheels being one inch wider is they help fill out the wheel well a little better...I still have my stock rims...I might be putting them back on at some point soon.

seadoons,

I have been thinking of getting some 16x8 pythons on my truck too...seen them on some other trucks but not on a Z71. They look bas As$ What backspacing did you get? Do you have any pics you could post? Thanks in advance!

I have 285's on AR Polished Burst wheels. I think the backspacing is 4.5, same as the pythons. I debated about both wheels, but chose the Burst because someone else around here has the pythons.

It really fills out the wheel well very nice and looks great!
