Extra key FOBS

Hello, I just took delivery of my new 2021 GMC 2500HD SLT and would like to know if anyone has added an extra key FOB to your new truck? I have the five button FOB with remote start. Does anyone know the maximum number of FOBS the system will allow on these trucks ( 3 or 4)? Has anyone tried any of the recycled FOBS sold rather than a new one from the Dealer? Thanks in advance for your help!!!

The OM says the max number of fobs is 8.

 

Programming Transmitters to the Vehicle

Only RKE transmitters programmed to this vehicle will work. If a transmitter is lost or stolen, a replacement can be purchased and programmed through your dealer. Each vehicle can have up to eight transmitters programmed to it. See your dealer for transmitter programming. 

 

 

I believe the max number of keys is also 8. 

 

Not sure if it's the true with the GM fobs, but I have fobs for another vehicle that are a 2-way learn.  Once programmed to a vehicle, they cannot be programmed to another vehicle. (makes stolen fobs worthless....)
