Couple of 4.3L Acceleration videos

Bought our first 4.3L as our farm has mostly 5.3L engines . Our Farm has 30 trucks and 25 are Silverado's and Sierras , 3 F150s and 2 Rams

Got a steal of a deal on this 2021 4.3L from our local dealer.

My first impressions are that it has decent acceleration but it would greatly benefit from an 8 or heck even 10 speed.

More gears would put it back in peak sweet spots which is something the 6 speed does not . Gas mileage has been pretty darn good so far. 1900 LBS of payload is solid.

Only gripe is that the idle seems to be pretty rough, well see if that gets better. .

Anyhow its a great value for someone looking for a basic truck . C'mon Gm! Give this thing more gears.

I gotta say that isn’t too bad! I mean that right there would have taken down my old 98 vortec V8 easily. And too think it’s a V6. I wish GM would also offer the 10 speed across the lineup like Furd does. I don’t quite understand it. If you want to regain the number one spot, you gotta expand a bit.
Great videos. Nice to see a couple. Haven’t been in a new 4.3 before. Only one I ever had was the old one in a 2001 ZR2. Great truck and motor back then but that had 190HP.

I have a WT with the same Engine and i see no need for more gears. I use mine regular to haul construction Materials and pull 14 foot trailer . To me the extra gears would just make the trucks computer hunt for the right gear(more then it already does) being only having 185 hp and like 320 ft lb of torque. My 3500hd Van with the 6l v8 on the other hand i wish it had a 10 speed transmission. Maybe it would make a few less 70.00 stops at the gas station as it never brakes 10 mpg. Its always LOADED with tools , materials and Ladders on top. The new Truck is to supplement the Vans .I use it mostly when I am spending the day doing estimates and meeting with Customers. I would say you should void riving that engine so high. Its not designed to be a hot rod.

mine is a 2020 wt single cab long bed with trailer package convenience package and a few other options. I to get it at a stupid cheap price of 24k . its MSRP was 34.5 Mine is ice silver in color.
