Hopefully between the tuning companies now available (RunVSE and PPEI) they can remove their p codes. Since the dealership won't flash them out. Any movement yet?
Paolo Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 My 2017 Sierra is giving the U1051 code. The louvers are stuck in an open position which is okay for me but the check engine light is always on, which is bad for me in the case something else malfunctions. If I disconnect it will that clear the code? I also saw ebay has just the actuator available for a fraction of the whole assembly cost. Will replacing that clear the code? As long as I can get the code cleared I am not overly concerned if the dampers open and close. Clearly its just something else that can break on these newer vehicles. Thanks for any help!
Ronjon Posted February 6, 2024 Posted February 6, 2024 The actuator moves, it's just the motor sitting there now by itself. Still throws the code, I wish someone sold a bracket with limit stop to truck the motor and stop throwing the one and only code my truck has ever given me.

No. Shutter is a LIN BUS device. Needs to be operational for the CEL to go away.
Ronjon Posted February 6, 2024 Posted February 6, 2024 And to be clear, it needs two hard stops to register as functioning? I need to get my 3d printer up and running if that's the case and make a stl.

Not sure how big of mess this is. any help is appreciated Some shutter assemblies on these are intentionally missing the top left. That is normal. You need to replace the shutter if you have a CEL and code for it. Simple as that. Make sure you get the right shutter with the 2.7 as it has an upper and a lower. Scan the code and it should call out shutter 1 or 2.

Shutter 2 is the lower shutter in front of the charge air cooler. Before you replace it there are some things to check and test. Partsguy198 Posted February 11 Posted February 11 GM has a bulletin out for the 2019 PPV Tahoe's. They actually remove the shutters, leave the frame and motor in place and program out the fault codes. "PIT6052 Active Grille Air Shutter Eliminated On Police Tahoe" Too bad we can't all have that option.
