2017 Suburban

Recommended Posts

New owner new poster here.

Just got a new burb with just under 70k miles.  I am a bit concerned about the level of possible carbon build up on the intake valves as I can only assume the previous owner never did any valve cleaning services.

I am in woodlands TX area. and cant seem to find a shop that has any knowledge or advise that relates to intake valve cleaning or their experience with L83 engines and how bad they carbon up.

Couple of questions:

  1. should I be concerned? or am I over thinking?
  2. Does BG or other chemical cleaning like CRC make a difference?  can it cause damage?
  3. Has anyone done a walnut blast or other mechanical cleaning on an L83?
  4. Anyone know a shop in Conroe/woodlands/ north Houston that can do good valve cleaning other than chemical?
  5. Any other things to look out for or be aware of on the suburban?  its 4x4 with max tow = 2speed transfer case, and 3.42 rear end.
