"Clunking" noise from steering column

I've starting to notice a small amount of "play" in my steering wheel when driving, only about 1/2 inch back and forth, and now I am starting to hear a "Clunking" noise when turning the wheel backing out of the driveway. I've check the frontend and nothing there is loose, (I did install the 2" drop spindles) everything is tight.  I check for TSB's but did not see anything based on this type of noise. Any feedback on it?

Sounds like tie rod ends to me.
