I have a 2011 4.8 work truck. I was driving a few days ago and the dash lights flickered and the heater motor quit for a second. I shut the truck off and when I started it back up, no blower. It also has no dome lights either when the doors are open or just trying to turn them on through buttons. The 3rd brake light isn't working and the lights in the climate control go off and on with the brake pedal. I disconnected the battery for about 30 minutes and that seemed to fix it for about 10 minutes. I also let it sit for a few hours and it was ok for another 10 or so minutes but I could smell hot wiring/burnt plastic. I have no idea what it is other than possibly a bad ground somewhere or the BCM has cooked itself.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? I'm open to any suggestions.

Thanks

That's my clue, along with the burning smell, that it is time for a new BCM.  Check all grounds and wiring related to the things that were mis-behaving anyway.  New BCM has to be programmed to your vehicle.

The BCM is the way I’m leaning as well. I pulled the dash (radio and light switch panels) apart and the wiring I could see looked ok.
Thank you for your insight.

Ok so that’s freakin weird

Those don’t have BCM issues

Does that truck by chance have a water leak coming in from the third brake light?

There are a couple modules and data line connectors bolted to the floor or near the floor and when the third brake light leaks or any other water leak it can find it’s way into the module through the jute and cause many problems

I’ll have to check that. I don’t think there are any leaks but it was a rainy day when this started.

Thank you.
