Been looking at a few of those GPS things and was wondering if anyone here has one and what I should look for in one? I would like to be able to know the elevation above sea level and stuff like that, I see some has roads and everything which would be cool too. Also I read for elevation you have to have at least 4 satellites visible, is that usually hard to obtain?? Any Info would be great, Thanks Guys!

I have a Garmin GPS V, pretty basic, but works for me, i can program an address and it'll show me how to get there, on the highway it shows how far the next p break is too.

I use the Magellen Sport Trac GPS. It isn't a high way road atlas though. You have to know what you want. I use mine to find my way around the desert . I use topo maps to plot a course to a prospecting claim and it helps me find my way. The elevation feature is very accurate. While traveling in a truck it tels location in coordinates and lists your exact speed. I do suggest that you get a unit that has WAS capability. those units can see two special satilites on the horizon and it makes them much more accutate.

Whatever you buy there will be a learning curve. You need to take the time to practice with it. the more you use it the easier and more accurate it will be.

If you want one of the units that gives you road directions then go with the garmin or similar product.
