MountaineerTom Posted December 11, 2003 Posted December 11, 2003 I read about this on one of the ATV sites I go to, so I can't take credit for it myself. I increased the rear track width on my son's Suzuki LT80 by approximately 2 inches by swapping the rear wheels, which will make it less likely to roll over. The valve stems are now on the insides of the wheels with plenty of rotational clearance and the tire rotation is still correct. The fronts can't be done like this (without spacers) because the valve stems will make contact with the brake cables/hardware when rotated. Before After
stebob Posted December 11, 2003 Posted December 11, 2003 You can also install a stem in backwards then seal it. Then drill a hole in the rim and put in a new stem on the "outside". This will keep it from hitting the brakes and put it where you can get to the stems easier. You can do this for the front and back! I'm an ATVER as well. What sites do you visit?
MountaineerTom Posted December 11, 2003 Author Posted December 11, 2003 That's a neat idea, but I don't know if I want to do that to the only wheels I have for it. If I come across a spare set sometime, I'll keep that in mind. I go to ATVNation, Highlifter, and ATVQuadSquad. There are one or two more, but I can't remember them.
stebob Posted December 11, 2003 Posted December 11, 2003 ATVCONNECTION is the best I've ever found. There are over 30,000 members. That's where to go for info! Good luck with the LT80!
MountaineerTom Posted December 11, 2003 Author Posted December 11, 2003 Yep, that's one of them I go to everynow and then too., just couldn't remember the name.
