8.1 HP reduction for 2004

Does anyone know why the advertised HP or Torque numbers for 2004 were decreased? I heard the were lower than the 2003.

I`m pretty sure the `04's are rated at 295hp for the 5.3 which would be a 10hp increase over the `03's.

He asked about the 8.1's not the 5.3's. The 8.1's went from 340/455 in 03, to 330/450 in 04. I believe that it is just GM screwing with the numbers not the engines, and nevertheless I love mine and probably love it even more once my wester's PCM is in.

Thanks for nailing down the numbers for me. Having gone from a 5.7 down to a 5.3, it makes you get a cat grin to have all that torque NOW with the 8100 engine. The 4:10 gears sure don't hurt anything either.

I got my Z71 like fender flares and bottom mouldings put on last week. getting the Westin running boards today.

Freaks people out who know trucks when they see a GMC Yukon XL with the Z-71 package on it. I may get one of those Z-71 badges and put of the back door so people can really confuse the salesmen at the GMC dealership. ....." CAN TO !!!

I JUST SAW A GMC Yukon Z-71 GOING BY THE OTHER DAY !!!!
