Browse the radio menu's to Settings > System > Return to Factory Settings

2) Select Reset Vehicle Settings

3) Wait to reset

4) Select Erase Settings and Personal Data

You will need to reset your stations etc.

I did both options listed and

the radio has kept settings since doing this

I'm really not understanding why it seems radios can't be upgraded, i.e. i have the basic infotainment 3 in my truck and why can't that module be removed and replaced with an infotainment 3 plus or even infotainment 3 premium?????  i presume the shark fin is the "antenna" that allows OnStar which provides GPS data plus that same antenna possibly the one that picks up Sirius radio signals????  even if it is the wire one screwed to the front area, signals are picked up in either case and i don't recognize any other antennas used on "plus" or "premium" systems.......  does anyone have any ideas or reasons .... why they won't work???

Because GM changed it to where if you didn't buy the option with the truck originally you can't go back and do it now. Probably a few reasons why. They don't want you buying a cheap truck and upgrading it. They also don't want you swapping things around or adding things and then try and claim it under warranty because something is not working correctly. I'm sure there are more reasons though.
