Anybody else have any trouble with the 4.2L in the Envoy/TrlBlzr stalling when it's first put into gear? Ours occasionally hesitates when going from N to D or P to D. I told the stealership and they said GM is aware of the common problem, but there is no fix for it yet. Anybody else?

I had a 2002 Trailblazer 4.2L That would occasionally stall and woould often hesitate and stall in stop and go traffic like 4- way stops or traffic lights. I had engineers fly in from Chicago and come to the dealership to check it out and their only guess was that it was carbon on the back side of the intake valves messing up the fuel spray from the injectors. They wanted the dealership to take the head off and inspect and clean it. I told them if they took the head off it was theirs. I had it in the dealership 5 times the first year fro this problem one time they even kept it 30 days. GM would not honor the lemon law without taking them to court. I called their customer care line and let them know I was very disgruntled and they didn't care. I put the squeeze on the dealer to trade me out of it on the 5.3L EXT. He gave me retail for trade in then know a few grand off the 2003 EXT 5.3L and he made sure GMAC gave me 0.0% they were trying to put me back at 5.9% again. I really like the EXT 5.3L it is much stronger. I did like the way the 4.2L felt in the standard size it was very responsive and quick. BUt when I buy a new car I don't want any problems that can't be resolved in 1 visit to the service department while it is under warranty.

I had the stalling problem when it got below 50 degrees. Took it in and they updated the software. No problems for 4 months now.
