07 Classic DDM problems

i have a 07 crew cab classic. everthing went dead on the DDM. tried the fuse, checked the wiring from the ddm to the fuse block and all checks out. so i replaced the DDM with a new aftemarket. now when i try to program it through SPS it cant communicate. so i tried the tech2 and that cant communicate with it either. it has power and wiring is good up to the fusebox. where does the ddm communidate with the tech2 directly through the ODBI? or is through the BCM? could that be bad ? or is it the wiring after the fusebox ?
