Does everybody else call their SUV or someone elses SUV a truck, SUV, by the brand name (Trailblazer, Suburban, Tahoe...ect) or something else.  I have always called mine truck, as in "it"s out in my truck"

What does eveybody else say? :ehh:

I was wondering, becuase I call mine a truck.  My dad however seems to think it is a car (but he calls all vehicles a car  ;) )

Alot of my friends was asking me why I call it a truck , they think it should be called an SUV.  I just tell them it based on a truck platform and is a true 4 wheel drive (not AWD) and thus is a truck.

Thanks for your opinions.  I guess you can call it what ever you want as long as its yours ..LOL

My best friend calls my X-Terra a "car" and feels it's necesary to correct my mom and I whenever we call it a truck.

I think it's just because he's jealous cause he sports around in a Toyota Corrolla.  :baa:

Back when I had my Blazer I called it a Piece of ####.

I will never, ever buy any SUV again in my life.  Its going to be a truck or a car, not a damn combination of the two.

If it's built on a truck frame w/ the basic truck drivetrain I would call it a truck.  Technially my Dad's chevy 3500 work van is a truck.  But, whatever people want to call them they can.

I call it a truck, it has a truck frame, real 4 wheel drive, and a truck drivetrain so it is a truck.  It's a truck that can also be called an SUV.  A few of my friends however try and correct me when I call it my truck stating that it's an SUV.  I think their just upset because they don't even have a car or truck to begin with!!

My thoughts exactly, didn't we just discuss this the other day Jon?

I feel your pain.  I think it's called GM Truck/SUV envy, shown by owners of lesser vehicles.

why?

Because I hated every moment I drove that thing.  It soured me on SUVs forever.

My thoughts concern my uses.  If I'm going to carry around people or myself on long trips, why should I spend all the money for trucklike componants, spend all the money for gas, deal with the rougher ride, when I can get a car which is built for that use and will do that use much better?  Same goes for the truck part, why would I spend all the money that a three quarter ton Suburban would cost me, when it wouldn't even be able to do all the stuff I'm buying those componants to do?

I love trucks because they are so useful, but anymore it seems that SUVs are just status symbols.  Myself, I don't care if I have a status symbol or not, I want to get my money's worth out of something, especially when its costing plenty of dough.  For that reason you'll see me with an extended cab longbed truck, not any SUV.
