Hello, I have a 2010 GMC Sierra 1500 that I purchased used this year. One day I went to start the vehicle and I got nothing. It appeared completely dead. I disconnected the battery and reconnected and it fired right up. This problem began happening intermittently and more frequently when the weather got hot. In fact, in the afternoon I was guaranteed to have to reset the battery in order to start it. In addition to that, I would randomly get bells and whistles going off while driving- stabilitrack, traction control, park assist will all turn off and not allow me to turn them back on. Every once in a while, the doors will start unlocking and locking on their own. Check engine light and bad tire pressure sensor is also on at random times. I had it at the dealer and they did absolutely nothing. Took it to the best electrical mechanic in town and he has been trouble shooting it for 3 months with no luck. At one point, thought it was the fuse box. He replaced that but the problem persists. When I picked it up he informed me the radio would not turn off. So I took it to a radio shop to trouble shoot and indeed it was bad radio as it was cheap Chinese-made stereo. I was hoping that was the issue, but alas I am still getting the random stabilitrack, etc. and this morning the radio would not turn until I reset the battery. I am beyond frustrated and ready to drive this thing off a cliff. Any recommendations?

Losing communication more than likely. My truck just did this today - 2007 model, 117k miles. Same truck, basically. I just did the annual used motor oil coating underneath, and I think it's messing with some communication wire connections. My money is on the ABS unit, since it's ridiculously engineered to sit right out in the water and salt spray from northern winters. That thing is just asking for issues. I probably blasted it a little too much with the oil, and it's shorting the comm wires to ground.

 

Also, under the panel next to your left foot is a billion wires and a big thin connector or 3 - try wiggling that around, then press both sides into each other to make sure it's plugged all the way in. I've had these cause issues in the past. I found those by accident when installing air lines for my in cab controller for my rear suspension air bags. After I got done I had a no crank and a hundred communication codes. Fiddled with that connector and all was well.

 

Before doing all of that, I'd retrace the steps the radio shop took. They might have disturbed something around that area.  They don't exactly have the best reputation for top-notch work. I see lots of issues caused by them installing remote start systems. Most come in on a tow truck.
